Train and Truck Collide Killing 26 People

Twenty -six people were killed and over 200 injured in a horrific train and truck collision.

The collision which took place in rural South Africa, involved a truck and train carrying people home after the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The crash has been blamed on the truck driver who allegedly tried to cross the tracks despite a train coming.

Part  of the train burst into flames on impact, trapping some passengers inside the burning train. Others scrambled to pull their luggage from the train and made it onto a nearby road.

The truck driver was not injured and the train driver and assistant suffered minor injuries.
