NatRoad calls for Reform of NHVL
The National Road Transport Association (NatRoad) has called for a complete overhaul of Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).
NatRoad recently gave evidence to the Transport and Public Works Committee’s probe, the outcome of which will determine changes to the law in Queensland that will be adopted in other states with the HVNL and the ACT.
NatRoad described current HVNL as “poor” and suggests that it be entirely reviewed.
The law has been in effect for 5 years and it’s time for it to be reviewed, NatRoad said especially if we want to ensure its usefulness in delivering safety and productivity to the sector.
NatRoad also said Western Australia and the Northern Territory need to adopt the changed law so that heavy vehicle rules are nationally consistent.
