National Fleet Age a Concern That Government Should Address – HVIA

The Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) has renewed its calls for a change in approach to Australia’s aging truck fleet following the measure advocated by The Truck Industry Council (TIC) earlier this year.

According to Anthony Albanese Labor transport spokesman, the increase in road fatalities including those involving heavy vehicles demands a comprehensive response from government. He says a younger fleet age is one measure but also stressed that we need to support safe rates, invest in infrastructure upgrades (including rest stops) and we need to maximise use of safety technology.
