ATA Releases New Technical Advisory on Certified Load Restraint Curtain Systems
A new technical advisory on certified load restraint curtain systems (CLRC) has been released by the Australian Trucking Association (ATA), as developed by its Industry Technical Council (ITC).
The information contained in it, aims to provide guidance where previous load restraint guidelines were lacking for operators and inspectors.
The guidelines provide a common understanding of how to demonstrate compliance to the performance standard when load rated curtains form part of the load restraint system.
The technical advisory was created in collaboration with industry experts and enforcement offices from around Australia, according to ATA senior engineering advisor Chris Loose.
He said it was developed to fill in the gaps in guidance identified when the second edition of the load restraint guidelines (LRG) were released.
He also mentioned that it is not meant to be a comprehensive guide for restraining loads.
The technical advisory also contains basic information to manufacturers of CLRC systems on certification, modification, retrofitting and repairs.
