NatRoad Says HVNL Not Fit
NatRoad recently gave evidence to a Queensland Parliamentary Inquiry examining changes to the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) saying that the law is poor and needs to be reviewed in its entirety.
The inquiry is taking place in Queensland, as changes to the law are being passed in the state and then to the other states where the HVNL is active and then in the ACT.
NatRoad says it’s time for assessment of the law, which came into effect 5 years ago. It asks whether the law is delivering the safety and productivity to the Australian heavy vehicle sector that it’s meant to. NatRoad also said Western Australia and the Northern Territory need to adopt the changed law so that heavy vehicle laws are consistent Australia-wide.
