Using Testing Kits to Ensure Safety

One trucking firm is using breathalyser and saliva testing kits to help change the drug testing process to help cut its year on year lost time injuries by 20 per cent.

The company has more than 1,800 drivers with vehicles from bikes to semi-trailers and conducts dozens of drug and alcohol tests every week, during pre-employment checks as well as random tests and challenges.

The company conducts both random testing and occasionally “at cause” reports call for testing of a driver or worker who is suspected of substance abuse.
