Bruce Highway Upgrades to Improve Road Safety
The recent opening of the upgrade along the Bruce Highway north of Tiaro will improve road safety for the trucking industry, Queensland transport minister Mark Bailey said.
The $16.5 million upgrade involved the building of dedicated turning lanes and an overtaking lane which will minimise the risk of crashes, including head-on collisions. Wide centre lanes were also installed.
Mr Bailey said the upgrades would make the road a lot safer for local residents and visitors to the busy region, which is located north of Brisbane.
Mr Bailey also said the extended overtaking lanes meant motorists would have safer opportunities to pass slow moving vehicles and reduce the risk of accidents.
The project was funded jointly by the Queensland government with the Australian Government contributing $13.24 million. Source: https://www.fullyloaded.com.au/logistics-news/1803/bruce-highway-work-clears-way-for-trucks
