New Device to Help Improve Safety by Stopping Driver Phone Distraction

Leading supply chain company, Linfox plans to install text-blocking devices in its heavy vehicles, to prevent drivers from texting while they drive.
According to a post on Fullyloaded.com.au, Linfox tested the device late last year and is planning a trial of the gadget in its fleet this year.
How it works,
The device sends a message to the driver’s telecommunications provider when the vehicle is in motion and the provider stops all text messages from being received and sent. It also blocks social media apps until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The device allows navigation apps and hands-fee phone calls.
There have also been reports that Victoria Police are encouraging the use of the device throughout the industry, to minimise the number of distracted truck drivers there are on our roads, which will ultimately combat road accidents caused by distracted driving.
