Truck Driver’s Serious Work Diary Offences Land Him in Court

An incident in Queensland recently should serve as a warning about the seriousness of work diary offences. A truck driver’s serious work diary offences have landed him in court facing 27 charges including working more than the standard maximum allowed hours, resting less than the standard time and making false work diary entries.

The 55 year old driver from Queensland was driving a Freightliner truck on the Hume Highway for a Victorian company when police stopped him.

Police discovered a significant number of issues when inspecting his work diary, including pages not signed, duplicate sheets not returned as required, excessive work hours, pages not dated, insufficient rest periods and more record keeping issues. Police seized the work diary for further analysis.
