Victorian Transport Industry Safety Group Releases Guidelines to Help Operators, Drivers and Technicians Ensure Safety at Truck Breakdown Sites
The Victorian Transport Industry Safety Group has released a new set of guidelines to assist drivers, operators and technicians ensure safety at truck breakdown sites for staff and the public.
The Truck Emergency Breakdown and Road Safety Guidelines sets out a checklist of factors relating to a truck breakdown and the steps that need to be taken.
The guidelines divide the steps into 3 stages
- how the operator should be prepared for a breakdown
- what the driver should do in the event of a breakdown
- what to remember when carrying out safe emergency roadside repairs
The guidelines include photos of recommended vehicle positions, correct placements of advance warning triangles and adequate night visibility.
